Default Fastfood = protein++ (or) fastfood = fattt++

I play ultimate frisbee in college. I've been averaging 3 double stacks and 1 value fries from Wendys ( or McDonalds, BK) about 4 days/week (for lunch in between my classes). I get a lot of cardio from running in practice, and I also lift 1-2 times a week (arms, chest and back).

I need the protein to build muscles, so I like to go to a drive by when ever I get hungry. I'm worried that all this fast food might ruin my cardio. I can still run fast, but my endurance isn't what it used to be. I'm wondering if the double stacks have anything to do with it.

What's a double stack? I can't imagine the amount of fat you're consuming.... and it's not good fat! There are other choices in fast food places like grilled chicken breast. Stack two of those up, ditch the fries though.

Fast food burgers are loaded with trans fat and saturated fat. Trans fat can cause coronary problems, diabetes, stroke, cancer, infertility, obesity, and liver dysfunction.

Your Wendy's Double stack gets a rating of D+ for health at Calorie Count.
http://caloriecount.about.com/calori...-deluxe-i56277. One sandwich has 470 calories and only 27 grams of protein and a whopping 24 grams of fat. As a comparison, one scoop of protein powder has 100 calories, 24 grams of protein, and zero grams of fat. A MUCH better choice for you if you are looking to add muscle. If you are looking for more calories, you can mix the protein powder with juice or milk and can blend it with fruit.

It sounds as though you are very active and are able to consume a large amount of calories without gaining weight, but don't let that fool you into thinking what you are eating is safe. Your liver is likely under tremendous stress trying to break down all of the additives in those fast food burgers and the health of your heart could be at stake.

If you want quick, easy and good protein, you don't really want it from a burger and fries. Ya, listen to me... Mr Healthy eater

I have started a morning and after workout ritual that I think makes sense. I blend 1 cup of regular or vanilla fat free yogurt with some berries or banana, a cup of water and a scoop of Muscle Milk powder. It tides me over, has a conservative amount of calories and oodles of protein and fiber. for Lunches, find you some Sushi or Salmon if you want a healthier food than a burger.

Just a healthy, quick and delicious tip from the Healthy Diet guy.

Call me crazy but there is something about a McDonalds Dbl Cheese that I like. It must be the 21 grams of fat and the 800 mg of sodium.

SuperSize me, Yep, that movie will open your eyes big time.
It grossed me out and made me feel guilty every time I pull into a fast food joint.

In that case, what is the cheapest way to eat out and get the most protein for the least amount of "bad fat?"

Where it says, "what did you eat" type in the word Wendys and there will be many options. The chili doesn't look so bad

By the way, fries = no protein

I am pretty familiar with the nutritional values of items on McD's, Taco Bell, and Wendy's menus.

Don't know the numbers on the double stack, but it's basically a little ole cheeseburger with an extra beef patty. SO, it's not all that bad a choice, IMO. A lot of fat, probably almost half of the calories are fat calories, but carbs aren't too bad. Drop that bottom bun and you're much better off. The really bad part in this are the french fries.

As for endurance dropping off, might have absolutely nothing to do with the fast food.

Good items at McD's include the grilled chicken salads. You can omit the dressings entirely and the salads still have a bunch of good flavor. Grilled chicken sandwiches are decent choices, especially if you toss half the bun.
Wendy's- chili, burgers or grilled chicken sandwich (with half the bun tossed away of course), the mandarin oranges I suppose.
